Tex Perkins Siamo tutti soli – Italian/English Version

TEXPERKINSINTRO

Tex Perkins - Ultimamente con me c’erano Charlie Owen, Joel Silbersher, Murray Patterson Gus Agars, Steve Hadley and James Cruickshank.

Alcune songs del disco come Halo, Who Do You Think You Are? (You Can't), Everyone's Alone sono così tristi e nostalgiche.

Cosa è successo in tutti questi anni?

Apprezzi questi artisti?

Certo, perché no.

No, sono spiacente

EVERYONE'S ALONE: INTERVIEW WITH TEX PERKINS

Tex Perkins and the Dark HorsesLiveat WirelessPasquale Wally Boffoli (Distorsioni) - Hello Tex: wich is the line-up of “Everyone’s Alone” Dark Horses?

TEX PERKINS - Well last time I looked Charlie Owen, Joel Silbersher, Murray Patterson Gus Agars, Steve Hadley and James Cruickshank were beside me

Some songs of “Everyone’s Alone” are so sad and nostalgic like Halo, Who Do You Think You Are? (You Can't), Everyone's Alone. Can you talk to me Tex about theirs and your lyrics?

I don't really see those as sad songs but who am i to tell you how to feel, sorry if i upset you. Everyone's alone  is the only one that I will concede is heading down sad street. But if you're sad listening to something I guess it's a sad song. I get sad when i hear Nickelback or Kings of Leon, sad and angry… and a bit violent. Sometimes i'll have an idea or concept that I'll work towards in a very pain staking, methodical way other times i'll be drunk, stoned, sick or tired or having just woken up and i'll open my mouth up and sounds will come out. It's in these states of mind that my subconscious rises up. Some of those sounds sound like words. You get a whiff of an idea and chase it, hunt it down and kill it. Eat it, throw it up and bury it, and then maybe you've got a song

What is the genesis, of “Everyone’s Alone” wonderful instrumental songs like Dark Ride (Dawn), Open Ended and Dark Ride (Dusk)?

Sometimes you don't need words to convey the feeling you want get across. Sometimes it’s good to let the listeners imagination go where it wants. We've always done instrumentals either for the pure joy of rhythm and melody or for the freedom of atmospheres and soundscapes. It's cinema for the mind

beasts axeCan you talk to me Tex about Beasts Of Bourbon great days? Why Beasts of Bourbon band is dead?

The Beasts was/is the worst band in the history of rock. A group of truly deplorable people that have a very negative effect on each other and everything they touch. They are like a curse or a plague. Filth and noise and pain and destruction is all they know. The world is a better place without them... so we'll be doing our first shows for 5 years when we open for Iggy and the Stooges early next year

Dark Horses musical and lyrics inspiration are so different from Beasts Of Bourbon. What’s happened thru the years?

All sorts of shit

Is only Dark Horses band the artistic future of Tex Perkins?

No, but it is the easiest for me to bring together, so I should think we will start work on another recording soon

I found that some “Everyone’s Alone” atmospheres are next to stuff and mood of songwriters like Mark Lanegan and Nick Cave. Do you like them Tex?

Sure, why not!

tex perkinsHow important are country, blues and roots for Tex Perkins and Dark Horses artistic work?

I guess at our core we do have a country folk thing going on, but we're not purists. I think the experimental side of our music is just as important. Sure we have a dobro (slide guitar) but we also have a synthesizer as well

Can you talk to me about Band Of Gold and your other projects thru the years?

Yet another side project, these happen from time to time. It's not any big career move but it was a lot of fun to record, quick and real and we had some of the greatest songs of all time to choose from

Wich artists and bands you like and advise to me on today Australian musical scene?

Nope, sorry
